I’ve been thinking about documenting my body art more seriously — not just random selfies, but trying to capture the detail and vibe of each tattoo. Last weekend, I tried taking pics of the one on my ribs, but it just didn’t come out right. Either the lighting was too flat or the angles felt awkward. I want to showcase the colors and lines properly, but I’m stuck on how to make it look good with just a phone and a bit of natural light. Any tips?
When I tried to photograph the floral arrangement on my thigh, I encountered the same problem - either the perspective was off or the tattoo was losing depth. It helped me a lot to use soft side lighting to emphasize the shadows around the ink. I also found this tutorial called how to take a good pussy pic - despite the bold title, it gives amazing tips on how to take pussy pics, frame your shots naturally and avoid harsh lighting. It has been extremely helpful when shooting tattoos in hard-to-reach places.
Not sure how I ended up reading this thread, but now I’m kinda fascinated. It’s cool to see how much effort people put into getting the perfect shot of something meaningful like tattoos. Even though I don’t have ink myself, I’ve always appreciated when someone presents it like a piece of art — lighting, mood, everything. This is actually a pretty inspiring conversation.
