Define basic facial face knowledge

Applying make-up to enhance the beauty to face by bringing out good features and minimizing less attractiveness. Make-up application is an art. It requires practice and fundamental knowledge of: - Skin structure, action of colors and their relationship to one another principle of optical illusion.

The basic rules of light nothing has color until light reflected from it. An object appears black when all of the light is absorbed. An object appears black when all of the light reflected.

Pink tend to gray the cool colors and intensity the warms ones. Yellow become more orange.

The red markings in make-up would actually be devoured and the dark lines be augmented, where as in white lights, make-up with red would be emblematical of character to be pale and corpse like.

Make-up looks paler, all red lines and spots appear violet and accentuated. In blue light red color changes radically, special care must be taken to avoid red color.

Used on a big stage almost every make-up in green light looks death, pale, disagreeable and unsympathetic. This light effect only used in death scenes.

Almost as disadvantageous as green, bright, red colors used as yellow color lose their effect strong flash colors give good result.

Understanding how color works is a very important part to makeup application. Colors are divided into 3 groups:

1. Primary Colors are the fundamental colors that cannot be obtained by any mixture. There are only three primary colors, Blue, Red, and Yellow.

2. Secondary Colors are made by mixing equal amounts of two primary colors. Yellow + Red= Orange. Yellow + Blue= Green. Red + Blue= Violet.

3. Tertiary Colors are made by mixing equal amounts of a primary color and a secondary color, but they must be right next to each other on the color wheel.

Cool and Warm Colors
In order to be a makeup artist you must know the difference between cool and warm colors.
Cool colors suggest coolness, and are dominated by blues, greens, violets, and blue-reds. But reds can be both cool and warm. If the red is blue based, it is cool. If the red is orange based, it is warm.
The same kind of thing can happen with greens. If a green contains more gold, then it is warm. If a green contains more blue, it is cool. Whenever most colors have a blue base, they will always be a cool color.
Warm colors range from yellow to gold through the oranges, red-oranges, most reds, and even some yellow-greens.

Facial shape is determined by facial bone structure. There are 7 basic facial shapes.

·        Oval :  Slightly narrower at the jawline than the temple, oval faces have gently rounded hairlines and an even countenance. An ovel face is considered to be ideal.

·        Square: Square faces have a strong, set jawline and a square hairline. The forehead and chin line acoss the jaw are almost in equal width.

·        Round: Round faces tend to be full-looking and have a round chin and a matching round hairline. The widest points of the face are found at the ears and the cheeks.

·        Triangle : the forehead is narrow and the jawline is wide. The eyes are usually close set.

·        Diamond: the forehead and the chin are narrow and the cheekbones are wide. The eyes are near the widest part of the face.

·        Heart: Heart-shaped faces are much wider at the temple than the chin, though the hairline is rounded, rather than square. The eyes are often set far apart, and cheekbones are large.

·        long: Long faces vary between a long oval shape in which the jaw and the hairline are rounded and approximate each other in width, to a more oblong shape with a square hairline and jaw shape.
